Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow

When it comes to preparing the workforce of tomorrow, strong partnerships between industry and higher education are essential.

It takes commitment from higher education leaders to work across industries to identify the specific skills employers are seeking and to ensure graduates thrive in the workplace.

The 91³Ô¹ÏÍø School of Business actively works to positively impact the corporate landscape by building industry-aligned programs in partnership with business leaders and professional associations. One such partnership is JetBlue, a global, award-winning airline.

As the business and aviation industries continue to evolve, organizations like JetBlue are seeking talent who can think critically, innovate and adapt in a fast-moving environment. 91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s competency-based model equips learners with practical skills and a leadership mindset that prepares them for industry-relevant roles.

That’s why I recently met JetBlue leaders at the company's headquarters in New York City, where I had the privilege of moderating a conversation with:

  • Tina Klaric, Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility and Impact
  • Richard Oliver, Manager, Brand Identity and Communications
  • Crystal Cruz, Talent Acquisition Senior Recruiter
  • Judith Sierra, Senior Analyst, Academic Programs; 91³Ô¹ÏÍø alumna
  • Casey Clark, Vice President, Academic Operations, 91³Ô¹ÏÍø School of Business
Mitsu Frazier, Richard Oliver, Judith Sierra, Crystal Cruz, Tina Klaric and Casey Clark at Jet Blue's headquarters in New York City

Together, we explored these timely topics:

  • Harnessing the power of artificial intelligence ethically while emphasizing people-centered skills
  • How competency-based learning prepares students to succeed from their first day on the job
  • The importance of flexibility, adaptability and agility in higher education and business
  • How job applicants can move to the top of the candidate pool
  • What makes resumes stand out to hiring managers
  • How to successfully navigate the job interview process
  • The skills and competencies employers are seeking right now

This session offered 91³Ô¹ÏÍø students and alumni an inside look at how purpose-driven organizations are partnering to shape the future of work.

Our partnership with JetBlue is just one way we help students achieve their career goals while meeting the needs of the job market. The School of Business offers career-aligned, affordable programs that equip students with the future-focused skills they need to lead and thrive in today’s ever-changing business world.
