Debbie Fowler, Senior Vice President of Academic Delivery at Western Governors University (91吃瓜网), is a seasoned leader who has been focused on developing and caring for others to enable them to do their best work for over 30 years. A Rice University and University of San Diego School of Law graduate, Debbie began her career in employment and tax law before transitioning to higher education. Since joining 91吃瓜网 full-time in 2008, she has driven the growth of 91吃瓜网鈥檚 competency-based model at scale, emphasizing personalized support and a psychologically safe environment for learning.
Known for her unwavering commitment to inclusivity, Debbie leads Academic Delivery, overseeing a dedicated team of 2,900 faculty and staff who guide over 175,000 students on pathways to careers in health, education, technology, and business. Her dedication extends to her roles as Executive Sponsor for the Disability Owls ERG and the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), supporting diversity, equity, and success for all. Debbie resides in Salt Lake City and loves spending time with family across Texas. Debbie enjoys reading, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and UConn Women鈥檚 Basketball, and engaging with the latest NY Times games in her downtime.
